What's new

Being a Lee Westwood fan and seeing him 3 shots clear on the final day.

And seeing Phil Mickelson win The Open was a bit of a let down, for me, as a Brit.
So who of you Americans are going to offer me some commiserations? C'mon... I need something to brighten my day.:tongue_sm

Though a British player, I feel Murray would care very little for the support from England and its people. In an interview from a few years ago, when questioned about who he'd be supporting in an international football tournament, he came out with, 'anyone but England.' Fair play to the Scot but I'm not on the Murray bandwagon although I am highly impressed by his achievements.

I never liked Mickelson, until I read a story about Conrad Dobler. Dobler played in the NFL in the days when players needed a second off season job to make ends meet. Dobler has had a lot of surgeries and does not have much disposable income. Mickelson sent both of Dobler's children to college. Totally changed my opinion of him.

I didn't know this about him. Even more respect for him now.

It was Dobler telling the story and not Mickelson tooting his own horn. I used to root against Mickelson, there was just something about him I didn't care for. He has my respect now.

As of yesterday, 2 years in a row Brits have won the Tour de France. I don't know if from England or not-is that mattering to you?

P.S. I can't help but cheer for a player whose nickname is Lefty.

I feel bad for Westwood as he's come so close in majors more than a few times. It probably stings worse that his putting was much better than usual and this time his final round ballstriking was really the problem. Phil had an unbelievable final round though which is hard not to like....and he's certainly missed out on a few majors himself.
