Before and After - 1922 Canadian Old Type

Hey guys. I picked up this awesome Made in Canada 1922 Gillette Old type, original case as well.

These are the pics before I cleaned it up.

This is after.

There is a little plating loss on the cap, as well as the end of the handle, but for 91 years old, I'm not complaining. By the way, this is my first time polishing and cleaning a razor.

Oh, also, I just finished my first shave with it. Absolutely fantastic. I would compare it to a number 4 or 5 on a Gillette Slim. I think it's going to be my new daily shaver.

What did you use to clean it, I have won a Canada New Type that will need some cleaning up. So your suggestions would be appreciated.

I used Scrubbing bubbles Bathroom foam. Then I scrubbed it with a soft toothbrush. Then I washed all that off, scrubbed again with whitening toothpaste. Wash that off, and polish with MAAS polish. It shined up like brand new. I have several more razors that I'm going to clean and polish. Looking forward to it. Good luck guys :D

Nice razor!! You did a really good job cleaning /polishing it!!
Curious how you determined the date 1922?

Thanks
Thanks!
Mr-Razor's website. He has a 1922 with that same case, same handle, same plating, same stamping. Also, that case was only used in Canada for that year.

Mr Razor is a good reference source, Porter/Macdaddy is a great source too but he is on vacation and may not post much until he returns.
