I've got a couple of spots below my lower lip where hair doesn't grow giving a kind of arrow shape to the beard (I'm attaching a picture with my
pattern). Is there a name for that?

well, shucks. Anyway, i had always called it the devil's spots (because satan always had a beard just like Vincent Price) and my daughter's current beau has the same pattern. Just wondered if the learned men of B&B knew.
Not sure if I've ever heard a name for it or not, but those are a couple of great suggestions above. It's a very common pattern. Mine comes in pretty decent in those spots now but didn't fill in until my mid to late 30s. Before that one side came in better than the other so I would carve out both sides to give it a more even look. Even now that it's filled in the hairs in that area are lighter in color and thinner and slower growing than the rest.
