BBSBCE!

”Stay with one setup for a month, and focus on your technique”. ”Change just one variable at a time”.

Good advice for sure. But today, after about two weeks of de shaving, I changed a lot of things anyway. Everything really. And I’m glad I did!

Today's swapping list:

  1. I replaced my Astras with Feathers.
  2. I lathered with Proraso White, instead of Weleda…
  3. …directly on my face, instead of in a bowl…
  4. … and with an Omega, instead of my ”old” supermarket brush.
  5. I used cold water instead of warm throughout the whole shave. No softening!
  6. I shimmed my Schick Krona to stiffen up the blade. (One shim above and one under the Feather.)
And guess what? This was my first BBS! A BBS by changing everything. (A BBSBCE!)

All the ATG tugging was gone. And the whole shave just just felt… smooth. No irritation whatsoever.

Now I just have to figure out what caused this breakthrough. Was it the cold water? Or the face lathering? Or the shimming? Or the...

Damn! Maybe I should have changed one variable at a time after all…

Thanks everyone!

I will do the same shave again tomorrow. But with warm water! (Cold water is the only factor I hope didn't contribute to my success. Took away a lot of the enjoyable, spa-like feeling...)
