Bayonet, Knife, and Sword Collection!

Gents,

Bayonets count as firearm accessories! Ha!

At any rate, yesterday I was able to acquire a gentleman’s collection of antique bayonets, knives, and swords. He and his wife are downsizing, and I really think he wanted his little collection to go to someone that would appreciate it! He also asked me to sell his three swords, and said whatever I get, we will split 50/50.

So here is what I think I purchased...if I am wrong, please let me know...all the information below was found from a few hours of researching online!

1. 1856 British Yataghan Bayonet...the rifles in the mid-1850s were pretty big, not like the carbines we use today! I couldn’t imagine putting this thing on a rifle that large!

2. WWI Imperial German S98 Bayonet made by V.C. Schilling...it appears to have the marking “B.1.U.R.2.54.”

3. WWI Swiss Model 1911 Pioneer Sawback...dual teeth staggered across the back...being stabbed with this thing would be devastating!

Here are the swords that I have to sell, but don’t know hardly anything about:

1. I think this is a pre-civil war US Cavalry Sabre made by a company out of Germany called Schnitzler & Kirachbaum. It still has some of the original bluing that is a navy color in some lights, and an iridescent blue in other lighting!

What a fascinating collection you have there ... thanks for sharing!

Though nothing at all like those amazing examples pictured above, I do have some WW2 & Eastern Bloc, Cold War-era fighting knives & bayonets. My prized possession is a wartime, Camillus USN Mk II fighting knife & scabbard that was gifted to me by a UDT member’s son following the former’s passing.

BTW, you wouldn’t happen to have an extra late-war, Wilkinson Sword Co. No1 MkIV Jungle Carbine bayonet laying around gathering dust, would you? ;)

MKII from a Frogman...that’s neat!

Unfortunately, I do not have a Jungle Carbine bayonet laying around. The only other amazing blades that I have are straight razors, and Himalayan Imports Kukri knives.

I would like one of those Swiss Sawback bayonets to go with my 1911 Schmidt Rubin rifle. I got it via a group buy over on the Swiss Rifles forum about 12-13 years ago, and lucked out getting a really pristine model with a light tiger striped stock, that literally looked like it as new from the manufacturer. I have shot some of my absolute best iron sight groups at 100 yards with that rifle, one day outshooting a friend using a Weatherby Accumark with a big Zeiss scope. I was having a good day, he not so much. I was using the Swiss military GP 11 ammo, which a lot of folks consider match grade.

I love it when Inhave a day where everything just comes together, and clicks...or goes bang...or goes boom!

Quite the collection. Looking at the pics I kept thinking, imagine if those things could talk?

That’s the truth! I have a few straight razors from the early to mid-1800s, and often think the same thing about them...these bayonets...yeah...the stories they could tell making it through the World Wars!
