Bay Rum?

Hi, all. I'm trying new scents...been an Aramis guy for 30 years, but my new DE addiction has me looking for vintage scents to sample. I've heard so much about bay rum and have never tried it. I picked up a bottle of Pinaud Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum recently, and found the scent to be very sweet.

Can any of you bay rum afficionados tell me how this product compares to others? What's your favorite bay rum product?

Captain's Choice

No idea how they compare to the others, but I am a fan of Ogallala and The Captain's Choice. From a performance and scent standpoint, I'll never allow my self to run out of The Captain's Choice.

Dominica is a great bay rum. So is Meehan (Bonnie Doon Farms). Both, scent wise, are worlds better than Pinaud in my opinion.

I use ogallala and captions choice, they are both good but I like captions better. It's a better finish for me

I tried a couple of samples and found that I'm not a fan of Bay Rum scents but I will say that Captain's Choice does leave your skin feeling great.

Dominica is a great bay rum. So is Meehan (Bonnie Doon Farms). Both, scent wise, are worlds better than Pinaud in my opinion.

BIG +1 to both of these, esp. Meehan's. I'm a big Captain's Choice fan too, but can't use it due to skin irritation.

Meehan's Bonny Doon and St Johns are my favorites. Barclay Crocker sells a great Bay Rum sampler

I don't care for the Clubman VIBR. I mostly use Ogallala or Captains Choice. I also occasionally use Superior 70, inexpensive but hard to find.

I have always found Pinaud VIBR to be a bit to much on the spicy end. Partial to Dominica w/Lime and Superior 70, both work exceptionally well post shave and I like to splash some on after a shower.

I like the Bay Rum but my wife isn't fond of it. In fact, I just receive a new bottle of Ogallala and Sandalwood from WCS. Not crazy about it. When I have enough posts for BST, I am going to see if anyone wants to trade it for another AS.

I didn't like Clubman Bay Rum at first. When you sniff the bottle it doesn't smell that good. But when I put it on my skin I LOVE it!!!

Ogallala Bay Rum . I use the limes and peppercorns. I dig the scent, but of course, ymmv!

I've tried a few Bay Rums such as Pinaud, Masters, Ogalla and Dominica. None of them compare to Captain's Choice.
