Baxter's safety razor?

Just saw this on uncrate... is it worth the time of investigating?
Its worth the time ... I'm not sure about the $60. It looks to me to be a $40 razor in a $20 box.

I wish they showed more detail of the razor itself, rather than having it buried in the display box. But first impressions tell me that the OEM might be Muhle.

If nothing else, at least seek out a Baxter dealer near you, and go take a look at this thing in person, hold it in your hand, play with it a little bit and see how it balances.

Or, just sit back and wait. Sooner or later, someone will buy one and review it in the razor forum. But it won't be me.

Uncrate does a pretty good job of promoting wet shaving ... let's see, made in Germany, looks a lot like the new Muhle Pinsel R89 to me ...

According to their advertising spiel, they figure that the safety razor was invented in the eighteenth century - which is the 1700's. So, they ain't too good at math!

Maybe you can talk them down from 60.00 to 06.00 - they might not notice!!

I do like the knurling on the handle. Perty shine to it too.

No doubt, the Muhle R89 is a thing of beauty. I ordered mine on Saturday from West Coast Shaving, and am greatly looking forward to it showing up in the mail.

Actually, depends on what you call a safety razor. There was an 18th century invention that involved a guard for a straight razor, exposing only enough of the blade to cut hair, and thus making it safer. At least according to this page.

As for the Baxters, I won't be buying one of these, but it looks like they aren't targeting economy minded buyers, or ones who are familiar with all the products out there.
