Battle of the Razors - Fatboy vs Slim

This morning the Razor Battle continued, as promised yesterday, with the Fatboy taking on the Slim.

Again, same time, same prep, same superlather, same blade. Shaved the left side of my face with the Slim, and the right side with the Fatboy.

It's almost too close to call. Almost. Both were very fine performers, and both did a very commendable job that represented their models proudly. And both gave a BBS result. But that result was a bit of a surprise, because during the shave, I felt one razor wasn't going to get that result. It seemed slightly less comfortable, but again the end result was the same for both.

So based on today's performance, I'd give a very close victory to the Slim. But as someone pointed out yesterday, even my performance in holding the razor to shave one side of the face vs the other could impact the result, so to be fair, we'll have a re-match tomorrow, and change sides of the "court", or face.

This is great. I just used a Fatboy last night for the first time, and have been wondering whether or not to get a Slim too. Keep testing for us!

I will say this, if you like the Fatboy, then you will probably want a Slim too, if you like a little variety in your razors. I was pleasantly surprised at how close they were in performance this morning. I had been wondering if I would have a strong preference - you know, deciding it's time to sell one and keep the other - but at this point, with both giving the same great result but with a slightly different feel, I will want to keep one of each in my tool kit.

To me, the two shave essentially the same, except that the slim's easier to maneuver under the nose, as it has a lower head profile. The heavier FB handle feels quite nice to me, but doesn't really affect performance.

I also find the Super Adjustable (long handle) a bit more versatile than those two, in that its higher settings (7-9) are not ferociously aggressive, as they tend to be on the Fatboy and Slim. I can use a Fatboy from 1-7, a Slim from 1-7, but a Super Adjustable from 1-9.

To me, I prefer the fatboy to the slim, the extra weight just tips it for me.

Isn't that true... if I didn't love my slim, I'd be kicking myself for not waiting until now to pick one up. The BST looks flooded with them, and they're all priced very low.

Slim for me ! My FatBoy is too lazy and he doesn't get the job done. The slim is nimble yet efficient.

I love them both. The slim is my sports car and the Fat Boy is the tank, but both are in my rotation.

Yup. I like the slim better for this reason.
