balm recommendations

I live in the cold north. inside humidity levels average around 20% during the winter.

I have been using AoS Lemon for over a year now and like it, but don't like the price.

Looking for a good aftershave balm with a very mild sent that is reasonably priced.

Thanks

I am a balm kind of guy, I have all the Niveas, Musgo, Speick, Every Man Jack, and Queen Charlotte. Of all of these the Queen Charlotte is my favorite. I use very little, and it dries smooth, not oily or tacky. If you are looking for a drug store buy, the Every Man Jack is very good. It can get a little bit oily on the dome when the temps go up, but on my face it does a nice job.

I like and use the Nivea Sensitive balm. Mild scent, inexpensive, works very well and is pretty easy to find in pharmacies, big box stores and grocery stores.

I second QCS. You can even get it unscented if you prefer. My face is in better shape than it's ever been since I started using it.

I like balms quite a bit and find QCS and RR has some of the best. QCS's come in small bottles but a little goes a long long ways and seems to last forever. I like RR because the scents are nice and they dry very quickly. Nivea's have the most medicated ingredients and work very nice to soothe the face after a rough shave or to use prior to bed time.

The lime from QCS is a nice one. I think of it as a pretty true and genuine key lime scent. It is not a very long lasting scent at all - by the time I get to work I don't smell it anymore.

Being a new guy, I had seen the Tabac Balm recommended a few times and finally got my hands on some. It does a good job but I don't know if the alcohol in it would be a good fit for your climate. I had been using the Nivea Cooling Balm for years and before that and a Hilfiger balm that came with the cologne way before that and way before I knew anything about wet shaving. The Nivea is great, cheap, and available all over the place. The Hilfiger one was decent for scent alone and it must have done a decent healing job as at the time I was massacring my face with a Bic Beard Buster!

Proraso balm is very good indeed. I also like TFS/RR La Famiglia balms. They tingle somewhat for some reason, but leaves my skin smoother than basically any other product. It' also the least sticky balm I've used.
