Bakelite Slant Razor

Anyone have any experience with a Bakelite Slant razor?

I have seen a cream colored plastic one online recently and was curious if anyone had any thoughts on it. I have only been able to find one solid review of it on B&B so far. So....any thoughts:confused1

I have an OC one and I love it so much that it is the only razor that never gets loaned out (even to local friends). IMO if it's half as good, it's worth having, but I'm on an involuntary spending sabbatical until after Christmas.

My two bakelite/plastic OC slants and they are two of my favorite razors.
Haven't tried a safety bar bakelite slant, but if they are anything like my OC
versions then it should be a great shaver.

Here is my clear Fasan.

Here is a no name German made model.

I've got a no name cream colored German bakelite slant that is a great shaver. I bought it from Italian Barber.com. I'm glad I bought it. Hope that helps.

I think I have the one to which you are referring -- I doubt if it's bakelite, but this German plastic slant works fine. This razor is reasonably priced and would be a good entry to the world of slants. The razor provides a nice shave for me, I've used it a half dozen mornings and it is smooth but if you are used to a 37 the light weight may take a little getting used to.

The handle is shaped the same as the Merkur 45 and the head has similarities such as the high dome. There has been speculation it was produced by Merkur. Limited supply as it's vintage NOS.

I have the WWII cream-colored Fasan Bakelite OC slant. It's a great shaver. It's very lightweight so you have to apply a small amount of pressure. But for closeness of shave, the slant combined with an OC design is hard to beat. Bottom line, it can be aggressive with the right amount of pressure. As an aside, adding a heavier handle like the Tradere or IKON bulldog might be the ticket.

I have a bakelite slant in the mail soonish, since I won an auction. I just posted to say that the clear acrylate slant is just gorgeous! I'd buy a new copy if that in a heartbeat if anyone should take up production.

That's exactly what I was thinking about doing when I noticed that the slant was a three piece razor.
