Baili BD176

I received my Baili BD176 from Aliexpress today, it cost £7.36 shipped to the UK, including a charge of 63p for using PayPal.

If you decide to buy one get it directly from Baili, they are very helpful.

It comes in a fairly sturdy plastic travel case, inside is a mirror and space under the razor for a pack of blades.

On first assembling the 3 pieces there was a bit of squeaking from the top cap thread, it was a little worrying but second time of assembly no squeak.

It's not made of the best quality materials but the fit and finish is on par with Merkur and Muhle, where it beats both hands down is on blade alignment, it uses Tech type locating tabs at each corner, alignment is perfect and requires no user input, the ends of the blades are completely covered, no risk of cuts from the exposed ends.

The shave was with a new Voskhod blade and TOBs cream, the razor weighs about 76grm and feels well balanced, the handle has good grip and I didn't feel it would slip out of wet hands.
I had the feeling there wasn't a blade in the razor, very mild but very efficient, it went through a 3 day growth without any drama, 3 passes and BBS, no nicks or irritation.

I am not new to using DE razors and have tried quite a few, both modern and vintage razors and this is easily the best one yet, this would be great for a novice but it's a razor for anybody experienced or not who is looking for a close hassle free razor that doesn't cost a fortune.

I will order another as a travel / spare razor.

I have Baili BD177 TTO and BT131 tech clone razors.
TTO razor is too mild for me but i like BT131 tech clone very much.
Finishing and quality of this razors is high.
Baili produces good razors for the price.

The Baili and the Wilkinson Sword black plastic razors IMHO are great designed razors and well thought out and innovative. Above all they are kind to the skin even when loaded with a Feather blade.

I have just ordered some Feather and Kai blades, will be interesting to see how these work out.

The Kai and Feathers arrived today, I have just tried a Feather, fan bloody tactic: D

I hated Feather in all other razors I have owned, in the Baili it's controlled / tamed aggression, cant wait to try a Kai and have been gifted some Scottish Perma Sharps to try.

Great review :)

I want a Baili BD176 too.
Unfortunately, the Swedish post and customs have imposed a lot of fees on all purchases, even small, from outside the EU.
If I order one from China, the Swedish postoffice will add a fee of 7.50 Euro and then the customs will add another 25% of the original price.
Then we have the time it takes for the product to come to Sweden, normally 2 months.

But, now I have seen that I can buy a Kanzy from England for about 12 Euros plus 3 Euros for the shipping and the razor is here in about a week.

I understand that this Kanzy razor is a Baili BD176 with a different name.

Yes, sir. You can purchase without hesitation. To me, it shaves just as well as the EJ DE89. I rotate them every month. The only difference i have noted, is that EJ has better chrome plating. But the Baili performs just as well and has a very comfortable handle.

I have a Baili BD191. That's the model with the extra long smooth bulbous handle, controversially very similar to the Vikings Blade Godfather. Build and finish is flawless. Very smooth shave with better efficiency than my post war Gillette techs except possibly my 1946 gold fat handle (USA) tech.

There is no controversy in that sir. Viking's Blade is not a razor manufacturer. They sell rebranded Bailis at inflated price.

Why brushes cost so much?

The rest is called "marketing".

I found a Baili on Connaught shaving, rebranded as Razorock.
A Razorock DE1 or a Razorock Tech II will cost me just about 15 Euros shipped to Sweden.
Tough choice since I also found that I can get a rebranded Parker 111B complete with a stand and brush for the same money.

Here in Australia a Parker 111b shaving set costs over 80 Euro including post. $15 euro is a bargain. I think the Parker would be more efficent too.

Shame on you guys! You made me buy this razor! I had no plans at all.

I mean .. Thanks :D!!

Well done, great razors, for the money nothing to beat them.

As they are so cheap perhaps order another as a spare or travel razor :001_smile
