Baggage Lost-I need a hug!

Well I knew sooner or later it was bound to happen. Flew from TPA to DFW to SAO on AA this week. Somewhere along the line my bag was lost. When it showed up at the hotel I was missing my leather roll up military wash bag containing my Matador razor and a butterscotch badger brush. The only thing I doubt I can replace is the razor, a three piece in a cool leather travel pouch with a blade holder. I usually travel with just a SS but I was only going for a couple days and opted to take the Matador. I guess I'm lucky to have gotten the bag itself back with my clothing but I'm sure going to miss my wash bag and my Matador Razor kit. When I travel for SCUBA diving I always take my regulator and dive computer with me in carry on as a precautionary measure. I think from now on the razor and brush go with me on carry on as well. AA was good enough (after some effort on my part) to give me a voucher for the loss but I'm certain it will take some time to replace the Matador. Not a significant monetary loss to be certain, but a painful one nonetheless. Lessons learned!

Not sure if this is appropriate, but think about it this way: you now have an excuse to buy another razor, a wash pack, and another brush!

I tried =/

The worst part is that your over-friendly baggage handler probably just grabbed the roll because it was leather. Odds are s/he'll have no clue about the actual razor and will like as not pitch it in the bin.

While that may not exactly be a comfort, it beats thinking some thief's having great shaves with your Matador.

I agree, that's what hurts, the fact that razor and kit will likely be trashed by someone unkowing of the contents. Verdict is right, it does give me reason to to buy replacement gear, but I think it's going to take some time to replace the kit the razor came with. Like I mentioned earlier, I think I no longer take chances and stow the razor and brush in carry on from here on.

Sorry about the loss.

American Airlines has a slogan which we in the DFW area modify slighting into:

American Airlines - Nothing Special In The Air

Well I guess that my razor and my brush will come on board the plane as carry on, if I am to fly ever. Well I hope that you can recuperate the loss.

Sorry to hear about your stolen razor, and I too will offer a pat on the back and a firm handshake, and maybe a beer.

I hope this doesn't happen to me. I don't like traveling much as I can't carry my gear...

Sorry about your loss there flipperz. I don't travel, but I swear if I did the stuff would be staying with me whatever I packed. And then it'd be stuff I wouldn't mind losing. Sad you have to have that attitude anymore it seems. Can't take some items that help you to enjoy a little downtime and get ready for the current day or the next day, whichever you choose. I hope you do manage to find a replacement on the razor!

Sorry to hear about that.

Happened to me once, sort of: I was expecting a really cool pair of sneakers (I was 16) from America. My uncle was bringing them back. He even emailed me photos of them and I was very excited. His bag got lost and I was distraught for days.

thanks for the sympathy, amigos, much appreciated. Fortunetly it wasn't an expensive razor, but I've learned my lesson-razor and brush stay with me on carry on!
