Badgers to be Rendered?

My daughter and I were watching an animal show on TV that followed a badger through his day. Apart from admiring his thick, winter coat, I noticed that he was quite a plump little fellow. Since we're already using his fur, I found myself wondering what happens to his fat. I poked around Google for a while, only to learn that the well-known Badger Balm doesn't actually contain any badger products at all. I did find quotes from old books that talked about ointments made out of badger fat, and a couple of Russian websites that seem to be selling it by the capsule.

Gentlemen, this is an opportunity for us to redefine wetshaving. Let's stop this senseless waste of good badger tallow. Can't you imagine yourself in the morning, a faint smile playing across your lips, lathering up a nice rich puck of badger soap with your badger brush? The mind reels...

you kill it and clean it and I'll render it. It can't be any worse than rendering down beef tallow. (which i do)

But your going to need one heck of a lot of badgers because the best tallow is found around the kidneys and considering the size of a badger VS a cow...... well there is just a little bit of a size difference.

But it sure is an interesting thought.......
Now whewe did you go you wascawwy badgew

Well, the Chinese eat badgers, so this animal would be useful in three ways:
Hair=brushes
Fat= soap
Meat= food for the Chinese and they could breed more badgers then.....:biggrin:
