Bad News - PLV has been vetoed

Sadly, my wife has pulled out her scarcely-used veto card on Lilac Vegetal. It is a sad, sad day.

Mostly because I have to resort to wearing it in secret, and on days where I am at work all day and the scent will be gone by the time I get home.

I just can't quit you, Lilac Vegetal... :001_rolle

That happened to me with MANDOM. The wife said it gave her a headache...

So now I only get to use it when I travel on business...:thumbdown

My condolences. Black arm bands for everyone!

The "bad news" is that you apparently have a wife with a.) decent if not good taste b.) a functional sense of smell.

"Bad news"...

[insert Inigo Montoyo's picture here]

...it doesn not mean what you think it means.

For the sake of posterity, I have to insert the full quote correctly; I love that movie.

"You keep using that word - I do not think it means what you think it means."

Ah, my friends, we are men of the world. We learn to accommodate ourselves to the things that each new day brings. In the heyday of courtly society, it was not unusual for a man to keep a bottle of Lilac Vegetal in his coach, or a small phial tucked into the lining of his hat. And if the faint scent of Lilac Vegetal still clung to his person when he returned in the evening, there were many possibilities. A duel along the river and flowers were trampled underfoot? A summons from the commander of the guard or perhaps a minor noble or clergyman, his chambers scented with strange incense and perfumes? A day spent mending his tack and tending to his mount? We men do what we must. And the women? Perhaps they understand, perhaps not. But they know we are men. And a lady never asks.

My own take is that something like K10, LV stands alooof. LV does not care in the least whether anyone or anyone's wife likes it. LV is zen-like in its non-attachment and will endure regardless of changes that surround it. It is in the world but not of the world. It knows that those that know, those that have been accepted by it into its circle, will carry it in their hearts no matter what. Is it thus so and has forever been so.

LV is not quite as aloof and arrogant as K10, of course. LV, unlike K10, does not want to "kill your mama" or "sleep with your significant other"!

On the other hand, I've heard that Dietrich wore Knize Ten. On her, I'm sure it smelled very feminine indeed--but feminine as defined by Dietrich.
