Bacon and eggs

Anything less just isn’t breakfast.

with the price surge in bacon these days I'm looking more towards sausage. I was talking to a caterer yesterday and she said, "doesn't bacon and sausage come from the same animal? why is bacon so much more expensive?" I didn't mention that sausage is made with the less than desirable pig parts, but still, sausage hasn't seen the price surge that bacon has so I see her point. That said, bacon and eggs is what I just finished for my weekend breakfast.

Ok, type "food porn," get "good pork". 'Dr. Phil! My Kindle HDX needs an intervention!' (Never mind the sad attempt at a jolly.)

Now that's some seriously good looking bacon.

The stuff they sell around here is fat with a rind on it :(

I've been making my own breakfast and Italian sausage for quite a while now.

Only use bacon as a flavoring. Had some crumbled up this morning in my avocado on toast for breakfast.

Looks great, I'll be there in a minute!

Price rises? Their not rising here so much as jumping right up like they been shot on a rocket!

Fridays are Fishtastic!
Demand drives the price. Skirt steak used to be considered a garbage cut, but the popularity of fajitas has driven it to $8 a pound.

I was in Dubai last week and had beef bacon and eggs: it's just not quite the same as real bacon. I'll try and find time this week for my usual fix at a place near my office...

You can get pork products in Dubai?

I'm back in Singapore now. But to your question, you can. Two hotels I have stayed at now have had secret pork stashes at the breakfast buffets and the staff in our office have said you can buy pork in selected supermarkets (not that I have tried). Alcohol is pretty freely available in bars and hotels if rather expensive - even by Singapore standards - but if you live there you are meant to have a liquor license to be able to buy it in a shop.

I mostly have a 12 grain bagel . . . that pretty much cancels out the bacon . . . right?

Not certain my avatar is correct for saying this just now.

Do we really want to live to an extended old age, if those “extra” years are spent avoiding bacon, eating avocado toast and tofu?
