backordered muhle!? help??

Hi B&B!

I'm brand new to wet shaving. I've been using electric and cartridge razors for years, and I hate it. I don't just have a 5 o'clock shadow...I've got a 10am shadow!! My beard is thick and fierce and grows faster than genetically engineered bamboo. My friends (and father!) have recommended going "old school" and getting a DE.

I've read enough and want to consider the Muhle R89 (the new version - closed comb). However, I'd rather not pay 50+ because I still have to buy a badger brush and whatnot....many of the cheaper places seem sold out because they're on backorder...

Anyone have any hidden websites? I've been checking the marketplace here, but so far no luck just quite yet.

Thanks guys!!

I suggest a WTB ad. I actually recently scored one for a great price and they are excellent shavers.

In the meantime, check out the Edwin Jagger 89. It is the exact same head on a slightly heavier handle. I had one of those and really regretted selling it (hence the Mühle purchase).

For the EJ (and most other purchases) I recommend bestgroomingtools.com. I got all of my stuff there when I first started.

bestgroomingtools.com has the closed comb Muhle R89 for $43.95, showing in stock.

I own one of these shavers and it is not only excellent as Dpflaum mentioned, the fit and finish are simply beautiful.

thanks guys for the responses! now that I see the EJ89...i'm torn again! darn! lol EJ89 seems a lot cheaper than the Muhle BUT it's also heavier...i'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing for a newbie...

The Muhle is heavier, but the EJ is balanced better (the extra weight is a heavier handle). I think you can learn with either one.
