B&BE vs Rooney 3/1

I imagine someone has posed the question before, but not sure a search will turn up what I want to know. Specifically, how does the B&BE compare to the Rooney 3/1 for face lathering with cream? I have a C&E BB and the B&BE. This morning I noticed that the B&BE splayed out about as much as the C&E when I was face lathering. All went well, but it sort of bugged me for some reason. Then I got to wondering what the Rooney would do in similar circumstances. As to which Rooney hair, I would imagine I would like the super better. I know when the B&BE was introduced it was suppose to be a cut above brushes in its price range. I am sure it is, but am wondering what would be one cut above even that. Is there some member/members who use both that could enlighten me? Thanks, John

I have a 3/1 that I face lather with creams and soaps and have to say it is amazing and many here would agree, but unfortunately I don't have both to compare. Sorry.

The B&B Essential (BBE) has a taller loft than a 3/1, is quite floppy in comparison to a 3/1, and will splay more than a 3/1 given equal pressure. A Rooney in Super Silvertip is a vastly different brush and, IMO, is the better brush. I highly recommend purchasing one. I have a 1/1, but it's the same knot as a 3/1.

I really wanted to like my BBE. The handle looks amazing, and I considered keeping it and having it re-knotted by Shavemac. Buying a custom Shavemac in Finest was less expensive, however, and I sold my BBE to someone who hopefully enjoys this brush more than I did.

Well I have both brushes being discussed. My Rooney is in super silvertip. I almost exclusively face lather with both brushes. My preference is to use the Rooney for soaps and the BBE for creams. There's been [thread=113410]lots [/thread] posted recently about the Rooney 3/1 and its performance with both soaps and creams. For some reason I like the scrubbiness of the Rooney better with soaps and the relative softness of the BBE with creams.
