Awesome Edwin Jagger de86

Hey everyone!

So I've been shaving with a DE razor for over 3 weeks now and decided to get a better razor. I had a simple Gillette Sterling from India. I looked online, asked questions and settled on the Edwin Jagger DE86 (black handle) and it arrived yesterday. The best part about it --- it was on sale for $32 on Amazon and I had $20 in Amazon vouchers for referring friends :D ... so I got it for only $12 and free shipping :)

I put in one of the Derby Extra blades and had the most perfect shave this morning!! The head is so perfectly weighted that you don't have to apply any pressure and it just slices through the hair without any tugging! Great razor and I just pray that my beard grows faster --- can't wait for the next shave ;)

Congratulations on getting my favourite razor! I have the DE87, the faux ivory version. I was never tempted by the all metal ones!

If I'd got a DE87 first, think of the money I would have saved on all the other razors I bought before looking for the one true razor! Well, I expect I would have still bought them thinking they might be even better.

Astra blades are my favourite in the razor but it gives a great shave with just about anything.

Thanks Gareth! I love this already and might consider trying a sampler pack of Astra and Feather !

Great score :thumbup1:
Oh yea :D ... thanks!

You got a fine deal, sir. Congrats
Thanks :D

How does a DE86 compare to a DE89? Is the handle the same weight? I currently use a DE89 and love it :)
Sorry .. I don't know. This is my first decent razor. It is cheaper than the DE89 by almost $10. And I love the contrast of chrome and black!

the 86 is my favorite too! i have an 89, but i think i prefer the 86's shorter handle and the fact that it's a hair lighter. nice feedback, too!

It's the same razor just the handles different, ebony on the DE86 and chrome on the DE89. I've used both of them and consider them equal as shavers.

that's the first razor I bought... I just bought a bunch of vintage razors and used those for a while, I came back to my DE86 a few shaves ago and I had forgotten how perfect it was... wonderfully weighted, nice thickness to the handle (something most gillettes lack IMO) and super smooth shave... not to mention it looks mighty fine!

Pretty much my exact same experience. I love my EJ86 but sorta regret not getting an EJ89.

Killer price for a fabulous razor. Those Edwin Jaggers are my faves. I have the de89 and the first time I used it with a Derby blade, there was no turning back. What a fabulous shave. For me, Derbys are forgiving blades-so are Astras.

Is that the octagonal or round handle? Looks like it might be the octo. The black octagonal was my first razor. I still have the head on an Ikon Bulldog now, I sold the handle, but it is a terrific razor.

I have one of the Jagger heads in my "free range heads" collection. It is one I grab a LOT.

Nice designed shaving head!!!

Excellent choice ! Bear in mind that EJ razors prefers sharp blades! Try Astra SP, Perma-Sharp, Personna Blue Lab and Feathers!

I like contrasts and somehow this appealed to me. My planned upgrades are

(1) Christmas: I'll get a Bulldog handle and,
(2) when I get my first job, I'll get myself a stainless steel razor :D

Weber makes good bulldog handles, and factoring in shipping, you could do worse than getting a Weber razor complete for Christmas... :thumbup1:

The handle is round. I have heard complaints in other forums that the grip is a problem -- but nothing of that sort for me :)

I will. I am looking to buy a sampler pack after I get through these Derbys. Thanks for the heads-up!
