Auto strop razor

Would you guys happen to know the easiest way to tell if its gold or brass plated?

The VAS is a perfect razor! It gives me better shaves than a barber! You do need a special strop, and the valet blades (decent strops can sometimes be found on ebay, as can the blades) - but with an occasional hone (and the daily strop)the blades last forever.

Here are my AutoStrops. I haven't tried shaving with them yet, but I'm going to as soon as I can get around to ordering some of the feather blades for them. I have 4 of the original Valet blades, but I don't want to use them. Unfortunately, the cases are in pretty poor condition inside, and as you can see, the one doesn't look so great on the outside either.
