Aussies: how's the mouse problem?

mouse? mice? I’m not an Aussie.
The plagues vary from place to place. We have a Prison in New South Wales that is being closed and all the inmates moved to other prisons as the mice are causing major issues with all the electrical systems. They are chewing through what ever is in their path. Here in my house we have caught around 30 mice since Christmas which to me is a lot as we have hardly had any issue with mice in the past. Some farmers are turning on the augers to their wheat silos and what comes out are either alive or dead mice mixed in with the wheat.
Almost makes the snakes not so bad
The mice have eaten all the snakes.
Or the snakes have choked on all the mice.
