August 2021 Gentlemanly Restraint Until Month End (GRUME)

Day 24, 77.4% complete.
Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: MWF
Brush: Men-U boar
Razor: GC.68 SB, Astra SP #2
Post-shave: Nivea Balm, Brut AS.

Allowed the GC.68 autopilot to kick in, and got a comfortable DFS while my thoughts drifted elsewhere.

Interesting - I think of MWF as a winter soap. Not sure why, since I've never actually used it

I'd call it a very understated "clean but neutral" scent, that would be OK in any season. It's my double winner, alongside pucked Palmolive stick (nostalgic 60s scent, not so easy to get these days, have to make into a puck).

Agree on the scent, I really like it. Its sorta like baby powder, nice and clean and smells... soft? If that makes sense?

Still in.

Still in …… just not lots of posts lately. Bunch of other stuff going on:
  • Spent lots of time researching, choosing, buying, and figuring out an electric car
  • Planned a 2k mile roadtrip in new car to be there for birth of first, and likely last, grandbaby (boy)
  • Spent last couple weeks helping new parents with new baby (Them: “Why does he cry so much?” …… Us:”Because he’s a newborn baby” ………. Them:”But why does he cry so much” …….. Us: ……………) They’ll figure it out.

Getting close to 3017ing that M&2 soap ….

Day 25, 80.6% complete.

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Lather: Gillette Gel
Brush: Men-U boar
Razor: GC.68 SB, Astra SP #3
Post-shave: Nivea Balm.

If you treat this canned gel as a cream, and bowl-lather it with plenty of water, it works surprisingly well. I get a harmlessly neutral post-shave (no benefit, no irritation).

Still out.

Used a brush I haven't used in a long while, this one my wife gifted to me while we were still dating many yrs ago, a 4125-1, 3 band in a fan knot. Its quite floppy, but oh such soft tips. Not sure why I don't use this brush as often? Maybe the "knot fell/distegrated out" stories on their beehives has scared me a bit but... so far so good. Its just so pillowy and a joy. I'm gunna stick with this one for a few shaves at least.
