I have never tried Thayers but was thinking of getting some to use in an atomiser. I prefer using an atomiser as it saves on cotton balls and also means I can use it throughout the day as spritzer kind-of-thing. I was wondering if anyone has done this with success? Or is the consistency of Thayers a little too thick to do this?

If you're talking about Thayer's Witch Hazel like I think you are, then spray as much as you want! I've had no problems using Thayer's in an atomizer.

I keep mine in a plastic spray bottle. Works fine, and like you said, easier to use in in the middle of the day if the razor burn creeps back.
$1 2oz plastic spray bottle with cap from The Container Store. That's how I dispense mine.
+1 What he said. I use Thayers in an atomizer and add some of my cologne to make a custom deodorant. Seems to work okay right now in the winter months.
I got an 2 oz atomizer bottle from Mama Bears and I decant Thayers AS into it and it works great! Lasts a long time this way.
I'm just about to drive down to Specialty Bottles for precisely this purpose!

Come on I splash Thayer's on liberally and it lasts MONTHS! No need to scrounge by putting it in a spray bottle. Slap that stuff on in gratuity!
I actually use more when I spray it. It makes it easier to store in my tiny medicine cabinet
All this praise for Thayer's is really feeding my Aftershave AD. Too bad the costs for shipping it here is outrageous 
I keep mine in the terrific atomizers from QED, but any similar bottle will do. Works great.
I use a cotton ball. I think I read about that on the directions printed on the label of another brand. Witch hazel is a great cleaning agent (besides being an astringent) but would seem to need the action of cotton, etc. to do its thing.
I like to spray it on with the atomizer for even coverage, let it absorb for a minute and then either wipe with a cotton ball or apply a balm.
