Just got mine yesterday. It actually can lap a jnat without getting stuck! Very fast and smooth. Broke it in on angle iron for a few minutes, good rinse and lapped a few tonight. My dmt 1200 kind of slid around and got stuck, even with light pressure under running water. This one slid very nicely. I got the 400 2 weeks ago. Took a junker blade to it and it looked like a bomb went off on the steel. Im not going to attempt the 1200 for steel although Im sure some of you have tried it.

I have never taken steel to any of my atomas, but they're the bees knees for lapping!!

Yep, they don't stick to the hones you're lapping.

I have a dmt325 that's pretty worn now and was thinking to replace it with another one...I wouldn't mind trying a atoma.. what grit would I use for lapping from 1k to say 12k?? can these be purchased in the uk?
