ATG advantaged razor???

I was asked if my new razor was particularly good for the ATG pass and wanted to throw it out to the group.

My experience is that if it's a comfortable razor for me, it's comfortable in all directions. My upper lip hates ATG with any razor, but I've never experienced one of my razors being particularly good at ATG as opposed to any other razor.

I imagine it's possible that a shaver's technique might be better suited to a particular razor, making it better for THEM to go ATG - but everyone?

Discuss.

I need blade rigidity and good base plate support for a good ATG pass and not all razors have that quality.

A comfortable WTG/XTG does not mean necessarily a good ATG pass.

Of course that’s my experience considering my skin and whiskers.

Most TTOs are a no no for me, the progress, EJ89 (ouch) and Rocca. I feel the vibration just by looking at them.

On the other hand, Fatip OC, Rockwell on lower plates and Henson shine against the grain. Special mention to the tech, not the greatest but not bad either.

Really enjoy the Henson AL13+, Karve Overlander, Fatip Grande, and many RazoRocks in steel or zamack for shaving ATG. And RazoRock Super Slant Lvl 3SB for overshaving ATG.

Fatip, Henson, Karve, Injector, RR Mamba, Feather ASD2 would all fit the bill for starting with ATG pass. Most SE's would work. Either a rigid blade i.e. SE or if DE a tightly clamped blade would be what you want.

I'll throw Timeless into the mix. I don't usually go against the grain, but do occasionally, and it has been comfortable. Mine is a .95 gap. I also have an AS-D2. This razor is extremely comfortable against the grain.
