Curious which finishes you guys are getting? My Vestige is machined but nearly went for satin (was/still tempted to get both).
I will say, the AD stainless steel basic polish La Faulx is extremely nice. I borrowed a machine finish + base plate to try and I much prefer the basic polish. There is that upcharge, if cost is a factor.I chose SS La Faulx with satin finish.
I bought Colonial General v2 and Silversmith and was fascinated by satin finish.
AD's polishing was excluded from the selection because I didn't like the result in the photo (because I already saw Wolfman's finish).
If I were to buy AD razor again, I think I would choose machine finish.
AD's satin finish was nice, but Colonial's satin finish had a lighter tone, so I think I was attracted to satin finish.

What is it about the GEM blade format that you prefer over AC blades?I'll compare + Vestige to La Faulx when my Black Friday order arrives next year. Not sure I will be able to ignore blade format as I always prefer GEM blades. The AD chart suggests La Faulx is more efficient if that is your question.
Both classic Vestige and La Faulx are very comfortable but haven't used them at the same time (pass arounds only).
So all else the same, you'd pick the Vestige over La Faulx every time?Width of the blade, feel and smoothness
I listened well. Black Friday 2024 discount was too enticing. I ordered machined stainless steel Vestige with both + and ++ plates. Hope the GEMs are as good as what you said<< I'll give you a hint
GEM is my blade format of choice but I wouldn't have bought La Faulx if I wasn't going to use it. I like the variety and the La Faulx is an excellent razor.
I just prefer the feel of GEM blades. I'll try any razor that accepts that format.
AC is still way better than DE. AC and GEM have a different feel, it's not a question of one being "better" than the other. I just prefer the GEM experience.
I'm curious which 16 AC razors do you own? Are there that many in the market? Beauty of AC blades is you can swap blades for a milder shave or for that matter a more aggressive shave.I've never used Gem razor before, so I'm even more curious about Vestige.
The new AC Razors is my priority right now, but I just have a plan to buy Vestige for the 2025 Black Friday Sale.
Sold all DE razors this year, only one Schick injector and 16 AC Razors.
Has anyone tried and can compare the Vestige and the La Faulx with similar base plates? Ignoring the blade format, which one is your favorite based on the shave they provide?

It only hurts when you spend it.I mean, what else is money good for amirite?
All I hear is basically that I should get me a Vestige...<< I'll give you a hint
