At The Beach...Is This A Shark Tooth?

My son found a couple of these in Destin this past week. My first instinct is shark tooth, but I'm not sure. Can anyone who is knowledgeable about this confirm? We spent a good bit of time digging in the sand in shallow water and picking through what we found.

i suspect mike is correct. The object doesn't have enough room left for the actual sharp piece of the tooth.

edit...quick google search confirmed it to be a "dove"

Thanks, it sure does look like a dove. I had never heard of that. I imagine finding a whole sand dollar is fairly uncommon too. You pick up tons of broken ones. They're too fragile to withstand the constant waves I imagine.
