Astra blades?

Hey guys. I've been using merkur platinum coated blades since I started wet shaving but at $10 for a 10 pack they are becoming cost prohibitive. I found a great deal on a 100 pack of astra platinum coated but I've never used them before. Would someone be willing to send me a couple for the cost of postage and a buck or two for your trouble? I'd like to try them before buying 100 but the sample packs are too expensive.

Search eBay... You can get them even cheaper there. Seek out ntguys (a member here) he has good deals, and free shipping.

The Merkur blades didn't work too well for me. My favorite blades so far are the Feathers and the Red Personnas, both are very reasonably priced. I've heard great things about Astras though.

They have the lowest price of Astra SP out of anyone that I know of. I recently just ordered the 1000 + 100 free = 1100 blades for $100. I already had a bunch of Astra SP so I have so many now it's ridiculous. They are the best blades I have found, ultra sharp, close shave and unbelievably smooth.

Maybe, maybe not. I think it would be wise to try a couple of blades before you buy them by the hundreds. I think Astra's are ok but (I know I am a minority here) I prefer the Merkurs, no doubt.
I just had to warn you; the Astra SP blades were my first bulk purchase and all I do with them now is trade them or give them away.

What you should do IMO is get yourself an extended sampler and find out what works best for you!

Still use my Merkurs btw!

When you see expressions like "...blow you away..." or "...like night and day...", in the vast majority of cases they are exaggerations. Most differences are fairly subtle and even when they are not, such differences fall short of the descriptions accorded them. Manage your expectations and you'll not be disappointed.

FWIW- I love those Astra SP, too. If I could only have one blade choice for the rest of time, it would be these. I like Iridium and I like Feather, but day in and day out these deliver best for me. One of these in a wide open Slim will get me as close or closer than a Slant with a Feather in the same number of passes, and they're not as hard on my skin as Feathers seem to be.
