ASSISTANCE PLEASE: Martin de Candre Savon a Raser Specialty Presentations

I think I really want one of these, after missing a beauty on the BST today. There are several to choose from.

I'm having a very hard time choosing, but I'm really leaning towards the Ice Cream dish one.
The reason it's difficult for me is they give pretty much zero info and my bad eyes are having a tough time with the pictures.

Does anyone have any of these, particularly the Ice Cream one, that they could tell me more detail about? Size, amount of soap? Maybe post a picture?

Thanks alot!!!

Here's a link for reference or if you've never seen them: http://www.savonnerie-martin-de-candre.com/en/31-homme

Hey John... I'm not sure if you found your way to these "bigger" pics, but hopefully these may help!

Savon à raser " Le Domino"...

The larger image for this one was "broken". For all intents and purposes, this appears to be a squat, square jar that is full to the brim with delicious MdC. There are nondescript oval or circular type ornamental designs, one per side, in the glass.

raser "l'Ami"

This one appears to be a beaut!

Savon à raser "Le Beurrier"

A simple round jar... it's a little difficult to tell in the pic, but it has a dome shaped matching clear glass lid.

Savon à raser "Le Cannelé"

A simple circular dish with a bit of a podium type shape at the very bottom.

Savon à Raser Ice Cream

You saw this one earlier today, I like it!

Savon à raser Le Bol en Bois

And last but most certainly not least, the "brain bowl" that comes up so often in MdC conversations... it's a full 170g, just like the nondescript standard jar, which I didn't snag a picture of for this thread because I'm sure you've seen it... if not, just let me know and I'll grab a bigger pic!

I sure hope these help! In all honesty, it looks like it would be hard to make a bad choice with any of these.

Arrghhh, these images were/are much bigger on my desktop! Maybe B&B shrinks them down or compresses them a bit to save bandwidth? Let me see if I can upload the bigger pics to an image sharing site like imgur...

I would encourage you to get a sample and smell it before committing to a full jar. The smell isn't for everyone. I got one from Gary's sample shop. There's a bit of a cult like aura around this soap. Great performer.

Brian... man you are an awesome guy! Going through all that trouble for me! I truly appreciate it, and it has helped! Still a little hard to choose, mostly because they are all nice! BTW totally unrelated, I got my Spanish Sun today, and I'll likely be PMing you later!

Thanks Dirk! Its ok though, I've got experience with MdC, and own a jar, and I actually find the scent to be amoung the best I've sniffed! But sound advice for certain!

i think the only way to figure out how much is in each is by contacting them. that or we can all buy one of each and measure. who's up for a specialty group buy. jk

Since we are on topic of MdC, has anyone here managed to acquire it apart from using Systempay on the website or through BST. My CC doesnt work through system pay.

I'd go for the butter dish. It appears to be the same bottom plate I have, just a different cover. I haven't managed a dent in it, I think it's growing.
Nice and wide to ease brush loading, then the lower part keeps all overflow where you can swish it up with the brush.

The regular jar is a very nice container and looks really nice on display. I prefer having a lid to keep the scent stronger because it is delicious!

Thanks for that helpful link and info! And thank goodness for translator! None of those show up on the English version of that site, at least for me!

No problem, I used the English site when I ordered and found that page, unfortunately I couldn't find that page there today.

So what do you think of the ones you have?

I'm using the Le Cannele and Face lather with it ~2-3 times a week, it builds a very slick lather, not as thick as some others but I prefer a wetter lather with all my soaps & creams. I nailed the water to product ratio on the second lather, not real hard if you start with a damp or slightly wet brush.

I do love the scent, a slightly Spicy Lavender & definitely Fresh Rosemary and I find they compliment each-other. That being said, I do like the scent of Tabac, QCS cedarwood-Lemongrass and had a Custom Latherless SC scented with Fresh Basil that was outstanding. I really can't judge the strength of the scent since my sniffer isn't very sensitive to some scents, aromas or stenches.

I'm thinking of posting my Le Beurrier since 280 grams is a bit much, not counting the 500+ grams of other Soaps and ~2500ml of Cream I have... besides I just ordered two scents of the two PannaCrema Soaps I ordered. :blushing:

I recently bought the l'Ami, and Le Coquillage (which isn't currently being offered). The l'Ami is beautiful although I don't use the glass tray, since I don't have any counter space in the bathroom. However, it worked out cheaper than the standard jar since it's on sale. I just use the square bowl. My wife is using the tray for jewelry/hair bands/make-up.

Both the l'Ami, and Le Coquillage contain 130g of magic.
