Aslog as we're hatin' on stuff - I hate Feather DE blades!

I have been using red Personnas in my Tech with good results. I had tried Feathers and found them rough with several DE razors. I gave up on them but I had 10 or 15 lating around. I had gotten rid of my silo-door Gillettes in favor if the three piece razors, Cobra Classic and injectors. But I missed the silo doors and bought a 50s flare tip SS. Out of a sense of what-the-heck I put a Feather in it.

Wow.

There is something different about this SS - and I've had several. It REALLY likes Feather blades. I can hardly feel the blade cutting and BBS is no challenge. Oddly, it doesn't like the red Personnas! But that's OK - I bought 50 feathers to feed it. It never fails to amaze me how much the results can vary with different razor and blade combos.

I have some Bluebirds I never liked, and some Wilkinson Swords. I ought to try them in it.

I love using a feather blade in my Gillette slim adjustable.
Set at 9 it is a perfect blade/razor combination for me.

A Feather blade in a President has no equal for my skin. That's more the President than the Feathers though.

I've had a similar experience. I have a SuperSpeed and a Ladies Gillette, which is basically the same head with a longer and decorated handle. I tried Red Personnas in both and had no luck. Actually, I didn't have any luck with any blades, except for the Feathers in these two razors. But then I picked up a couple of Old Types and thought I should try the Feathers because they worked so well before. I was very disappointed. So, I tried Derbys with the Old Types and that has done a miracle. I never would have thought that blade/razor combos really could make a difference, but that seems to be my experience. I guess it could by just psychological or something, but I don't know.

Anyways...glad you found a combo to work well with the SS.

I would love to love Feathers, but I can't seem to get more than two good shaves from each blade on a consistent basis.

How long do they last for you?

I have a lot of blades, all of them are Feathers. They work perfect in my Merkur 38 C and 39 C slant. In the 39 C I almost not feel anything when shaving with Feathers, they are sooo sharp. I usually shave with a blade for 5 days with easy BBS results.

I've been experiencing the exact opposite.

My '52 SS doesn't like Feathers, while my HD does!
