Asking for Advice in Accordance with Instructions

1. Existing Brushes - This will be my first brush.

2. Soaps or Creams - I have no idea whether I like soaps or creams, but I can say that I plan to lather in a bowl.

3. What I Want - I want my first brush... a good introductory badger brush.

4. Aesthetics - Not sure about brush aesthetics.

5. Budget - I want to spend $30 to $45, but I'd pay more for something with superior functionality.

6. Size - I'm a small guy with very localized facial hair and small hands. I think a smaller brush would be best.

7. Interests - Everything seems interesting right now.

8. Future Plans - I'm hoping this can be my last and only brush.

Thanks for any suggestions.

my choice would be to cruise the BST and get a reknotted vintage brush. Theyre great value and about your pricepoint.

ps, #8 made me burst out laughing

I agree with mdunn, the BST is a great place to look for a brush that fits your description. As an aid to decision making be sure to ask sellers what the knot and loft dimensions are. I would consider a "small" brush to be anywhere from 18-21 mm knot and 45-50 mm loft. As a rule, larger knots with shorter lofts can also perform like a smaller brush b/c the the loft keeps them from being floppy. I got a brush from the BST, custom handle with 20mm knot and 48mm loft and it's a perfect size, IMO. I did buy a larger custom brush from a vendor here that I use to mix it up, but the smaller one is my primary brush.
