Aromatic Recommendations? Vanilla?

Hi all. I am going to be ordering a couple of new baccy's today. I was wondering if you guys could provide some recommendations with regard to aromatics? I know its a love-or-hate type of tobacco...so if you all know of a couple that taste as good as they smell, let me know! I was wanting a nice vanilla/chocolate type blend, but am open to others.*

*Don't worry...I am sure I will graduate to "serious" blends eventually...but for now I am really digging sweet, mild smokes in my pipe. :biggrin1:

Yeah i agree with the above comment about that 1Q.
It is one of the best tobaccos out there and isnt super vanilla-y, but has some vanilla flavors and is a great smoke.

#734 Green River VanillaBurley from the Green River Valley of Kentucky, fire cured and expertly blended to be mild and smooth. Flavored with an outstanding vanilla.

I am about to crack this tin in a few days. Pm me if you want to experience the "details" of this blend!

Stanwell makes a tasty Vanilla also. I havent puffed it in a while but it was a favorite before i went away from aromatics

My Secret Santa was kind enough to bring me a can of Mac Baren honey & chocolate. It is a wonderful aro, the best I've had yet and I've been looking for a long time.

I've made my dislike of aromatic tobacco public, repeatedly. Frankly, even once is too many times since it contributes nothing positive to a conversation. Unfortunately, it's probably people like me that give the impression that Virginia, Burley, and English blends--anything other than aros--are the only "serious" tobaccos. For the record, I don't actually feel that way, and I think most others don't either. A preference is not a valuation -- it's a taste, and we all know there's no accounting for it. Liking vanilla cavendish more than Latakia is no different than liking Virginia more than Burley... or liking wine in a box more than an expensive bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. I've seen that "wine snobbery" on other pipe smoking discussion boards and it makes me cringe every time. Hopefully our little well-shaved contingent of pipesters can continue fostering the most openminded and welcoming community I know of on the 'net. So smoke yer vanilla cav with pride, cut open another box-a-wine and get comfy on that white plastic lawnchair.

I always forget about Lane 1-Q

Also I'm not sure if you know about Boswell's or not, but I wanted to throw them up on your radar. Their blends are only available from their shop, but IMO their aromatics are some of the best. Unfortunately, they do not have an online shopping cart so you have to call the shop to order, but fortunately us B&B'ers like doing things the old fashioned way.

Although I tend to avoid aromatics due to their propensity for low nicotine levels (if I'm smoking 1Q or Butternut Burley, I'll chase bowls with cigarettes trying to get my fix) I would suggest checking out the new Stokkebye 4th Generation 1897. A base of bright and red Va's with a hint of white Burleys make up the main body of the smoke, with a generous portion of vanilla cased black Cavs. It also seems rather forgiving, I've pushed and DGT'd the blend repeatedly and although it does take on a bitter note, it isn't as pronounced as with many aromatic blends, and it seems to dissipate after a few puffs.

Haven't had that one since last winter.. now I'm going to have to run to the local tobacconist! I am also fond of the vanilla flake and vanilla cream.
