What's new

Arko lover needs help

I love Arko, but also like the idea of trying new things. The problem is, every time I try something new I am completely disappointed. Help me find soaps I may like other than Arko.

Perhaps the ease with which Arko lathers has kept you from developing a good lather technique? The problem may not be the soaps but a need to be more careful and patient in how you build lather.

If you want to stay with shave sticks and if you like them STICK with the STICK....

These are ones I like as well as Arko (in order of my preference)

Palmolive: http://www.westcoastshaving.com/Palmolive-for-Men-Classic-Shaving-Soap-Stick_p_676.html

Speick and Palmolive shave stcks are better, IMO. Both have equal performance, but Speick holds a slim lead on scent.

Ogallala sticks. I like them a lot. GZD sticks are similar to Arko, but with a slight different smell. Or face lather some VDH. All good stuff.

Just to throw it out there, how about Proraso? Right now I only have two soaps, Proraso Sensitive Skin in the tub, and a grated Arko stick in a bowl. Of the two, I have an easier time lathering the Proraso (I use Marco's method). At the very least though it is just as good if not better than the arko, and could work well for you :biggrin1:

I have tried Proraso creams Red, and Green. I realy like the mentholated smell, and feel. I have tried Colonel Conk Almond shave soap. I have also tried Vanderhager Premium. I don't have a problem lathering, I actually really liked using the Proraso green cream, but none of them give me the slick, and cushiony fee,l that I get from Arko. I wish there were a bunch of different scents of Arko, that would be enough for me.

Plus none of these even come close to the price point of Arko. I paid $16 for 12 sticks delivered to my door.

Do they have that feel though? Do they have that slick, cushiony, I could shave with a rock type of feel I have only gotten from Arko?

I'm an Arko lover. The other shave sticks that I like are Speick, European Palmolive, La Toja and Speick. There are a handful of pucks in my rotation, but they all cost significantly more. My favorites are AoS, MWF and MdC.

See, I knew Speick deserved double billing  Seriously, LaToja is on my short list for my next order.
