A friend of mine brought her Grandfather's razor by yesterday to show me. I didn't get a picture of it, but it is identical to this, case and everthing:

My question is, I couldn't find a date stamp. A 1947 should be an S, but I didn't see one on her razor, nor do I see one here. How do I determine the date?

I´ve looked to the date of the Ad. It`s from 1947. Since 1948 they are notched with a different case. I don´t know whether they comes 1946 too.

Hey Johnny, the only thing I've been able to determine as different between a 1946 and a 1947 Aristocrat is the 1946's have a white or brown inside cover, and also the leatherette boxes are more brown than red, or they are also blue with white lining in the lid with blue lettering. I have five of these sets and they are my absolute favorites of the Gillettes. I've tried to date mine, and the only differences are what I've noted here, and I found that information by examining old Aristocrat advertisements, and of course the Mr. Razor site.
