What's new

aristocrat, meh

I shaved for the 1st time today with my US gold aristocrat and have to say I'm not really impressed. I probably got the best shave I've ever had with any razor, but the razor (especially the head) feels way too light or less solid compared to my redtip. I will keep at it though as I can't believe how awesome of a shave I got, I just hope the feel improves!

I don't know what Aristocrat your comparing to a Red Tip but I've got a early 50s pre date code, knotched Aristocrat and a C-4 red tip and the heads are identical to my eyes and the Aristocrat weighs 66.9 grams and the Red Tip weighs 66.3 grams and they shave the same to me.

You got "the best shave [you]'ve ever had with any razor," but you're "not really impressed" based upon your impression of the weight, and you post a thread entitled "Aristocrat, Meh"?

Thanks for taking one for the Team. You're a heck of a guy Harry!

I agree with the OP, they are horrid little face scrapers and I have been working diligently to remove them from the streets to save other wet shavers from the miserably clean and smooth shaves they provide.

Here I was getting all excited when I'd see a pretty aristocrat on the bst. Thanks for the group photo it slapped me back into reality and I realize the aristocrat is just another run of the mill razor from gillette.:001_rolle Buy the way how much did you have to fork over for those beauties, they look wonderful.

My hero! And if you should run out of room to store all those offending pieces of gilded history, may I offer my assistance? I'm sure I could securely house several dozen. You know, to protect the world of Wet Shavers and all.... Got to do my bit :thumbup1:.

These razors are the crappiest razors ever made in the history of the universe. If you find one destroy it.

They are as run of the mill for razors as a Mercedes is run of the mill for cars

I paid about $40-$50 for each one, which I don't feel was too bad at all considering that they are all in at least in near mint condition.

By all means remove these hated things from my household, but please wear a protective radiation suit and put them in a lead-lined container when you do. :biggrin1:

I'm not trying to disrespect the aristocrat, it really did shave great, it just felt like the head was a bit light and flimsy. I dunno, I guess it's probably just me.

It's ok, we tease because we like you. Don't take it too seriously.
You may be taking that feeling of smoothness and translating it into flimsy.
Try to remember that just because a razor doesn't FEEL like it's cutting, doesn't mean it isn't.
