Ariana & Evans Unscented Soaps

I just got the Ariana & Evans Ultima Unmasked yesterday. I tried lathering it in the hand, and it felt really creamy and slick, but one or more of the ingredients in the Unmasked soap makes the soap have a scent. I do not know which one(s). Is there anyone here that have tried any of the unscented soap from A&E? The Unmasked soap makes a really great lather, but I am not sure I am liking the scent.
Anyone here who knows the other unscented soaps that A&E makes? The Recipe and Unscented Cream. Do they have any scent/smell?

It's kindof funny that you say that, I have one of their unscented soaps (The Recipe, in Kaizen 2e) and I've always found it to have a scent as well. Not strong like their scented soaps are, but certainly noticeable enough that it's not just like an ancillary "soap base" aroma.

Thank you for sharing your experience with The Recipe soap.

The scent in the Ultima Unmasked is not strong either but it is noticable. I could actually smell it faintly on the brush this morning. It is gone after this evening after I used the brush with another soap.

I will try and leave it the soap open for some weeks and see what it does to the scent.

I do not think it is a fragrance/scent they added but it must be a natural scent from one or more of the ingredients.

It is not a bad scent, I am just not sure I like it in an unscented soap.

I have a few unscented soaps that caught me off guard with their scent. After I thought about it for a moment it made sense that some ingredients would have a scent.

My guess would be either the beef tallow or beer. When I make unscented lard bar soap, the lard smell is prominent.

This is different though, at least to me, in The Recipe. I know that tallowy scent you're talking about, a lot of the Declaration soaps used to have it and some of the Grooming Dept ones and others too. But for me it's definitely some type of an actual scent note, almost like a light bubble gum scent.

So what's really weird is that I just went back and looked at the label for the A&E The Recipe soap, which as I mentioned in an earlier post is in the K2e base. Even though they describe it as an unscented soap in their product description, the ingredients list on the label clearly includes "Parfum (Fragrance)" in it. With tallow soaps, I always smell the tallow whether it has fragrance or not. That is what I am guessing you are smelling. It isn't my favorite smell, but I tolerate it because tallow performs so well for me.

Parfum is listed on the ingredients label on my soap.
But I saw it on the A&E website before I ordered it and I wrote them and asked if it was a typo.
The owner answered me that is was a mistake that Parfume was on the label (Photoshop guy).

It is not tallow I can smelt. I have other tallow based soaps and I can smell the tallow in those soaps. I actually do not mind the smell of tallow.

I can not describe the scent in Ultimate other than it is does smell like some kind of parfume. But since I got the answer that it is unfragranced, it must be some of the ingredients. I just do not know which.

DG unscented smelled awful to me. Ethos and Zingari unscented smelled like literally nothing.

Yeah the DG unscented was something, specifically the bison base (to me).
And again that’s why I consider this A&E situation to be a case of having an actual scent component, not being a byproduct of the base ingredients. I don’t buy the explanation of it being a mistake or misprint or whatever.
