What's new

Are you guys ready for a Grand heartbreak?

Just got in my latest aquisition and I have been eagerly anticipating its arrival! I heard the mailbox slam shut so I quickly walked over to see what I may have received. There it was - the package I had been waiting for! But wait . . . it's in a mailer pouch!!! My heart sank as I carefully opened up the package and unwrapped the poor attempt to protect this nearly 80 year old jewel. My Grand Shave King looked like it tried to take on Mike Tyson!!! One tooth was dangling and another fell out of the bubble wrap as I was removing it!!! :mad3:

This hurts!

But the seller was kind enough to "not" call me "a liar..."!!! :cursing:

Ouch! I've received numerous eBay razors that were incredibly poorly packaged and never encountered this kind of damage. Just lucky, I guess. I think in the future, though, if it's a razor of any consequence (such as yours), I will give the seller specific instructions on packaging and pay the additional cost. Sorry for your loss.

That's a box item for sure! Use eBay to reverse the charges, they will for you if it comes damaged like that. The seller is a knucklehead.

Ugh, i got a razor show up in a padded mailer and just about had a heart attack. I paid 60 plus shipping, why can't you put it in a small box!! My story ended on a better note as there wasn't any apparent damage (no teeth on it though)

Whenever i mail a razor i usually use a bubblemailer, I haven't shipped an open comb razor However.
I'm Sorry For your Loss, I hope you can find another one.

I agree. I've done this in the past ("specific instructions") but this guy had several other razors for sale. He also stated he had sold "... hundreds of razors..." so I assumed he knew what he was doing. I will be very specific from now on.

Damm, was it fully together when the seller shipped it?

Yes, it looked fine.

edit - Oops, read the question too quickly. Yes it was "together". A comb razor, fully assembled in bubble mailer.

I shudder when I see those bubble mailers in my box. I am very surprised I have never received a damaged straight in one. Sorry for your luck.

if it's any consolation, it's not that great of a performing razor. I had one and sold it pretty quickly on eBay a while back :001_cool:

extremely mild, very lightweight and the spindle that joins to the head is wobble and I hear it breaks quite easily with any ding/bang. it was about the cheapest feeling/build razor I have ever handled.

Hopefully the eBay seller comes thru with a full refund.

Yes, it looked fine.

Who ships a 3 piece razor fully assembled? Disassembled, even in a bubble mailer, the base and top plates would be pretty difficult to damage, Put together, and those teeth are exposed to any inadvertent (or intentional) crushing force in transit.

What a bummer.

I was wondering the same thing but after reading the question and response I think the OP was referring to the condition of the razor prior to shipping not that the seller shipped the razor all screwed together, that would be crazy indeed if the seller did ship it screwed together...
