Are there any shave sticks out there you can use without a brush?

Trying to put together a minimalist traveling kit without a brush. Are there any sticks that could be face lathered & then worked with the hand? Also, would the packaging allow for them to be unmessy in the bag? I thought I read where someone was doing this but couldn't remember with what stick, maybe Arco?

Thanks

Not really. I have used Tabac without a brush reasonably OK but you are better with a travel tube of cream such as T&H or Trumper as these do work.

Valobra. Rub in well and then shave. It's better with a brush but it does put down a good amount of soap. You do have to keep it wet though.

There was a guy not to long ago who did this with a Palmolive stick. If you soak the tip for 15 minutes or more I might see that work, otherwise I don't think you would get enough soap on your face. I haven't used Arko myself, but people are apparently able to just press it into a tub without grating, so it should be pretty soft (compared to triple milled at least), and probably give up soap relatively easy.

Palmolive comes wrapped in foil with a simple plastic base, but you could pick up a La Toja stick for home use (it's great!) and use the container for Palmolive. The La Toja container has vent holes and is really practical. I don't know if the Palmolive plastic base fits nicely in the container, but the Palmolive stick sits nicely in the La Toja plastic base, which obviously fits the container. If you are in US, you can also look for empty prescription bottles, they apparently do well both as brush tubes and stick containers.

Would be nice to know how the kit ends up (both products and performance), but I'm still bringing a brush. :001_smile

(And why not just use the La Toja stick, you ask? I love it, but I think it's too hard to work well brushless. Maybe I should give that a go myself, so I know.)

I have a Nancy boy travel tub that works well when I am on the go. Small tub, applied by hand and amazing shave. Also pretty cheap.
