Are most people here not into the "aquatic" and "younger" scents?

I have a bunch of colognes I was going to clean out, but it seems as if most people here prefer the muskier "older" scents I guess some people say, but I have mostly younger scents for sure (like Aqua Di Gio type I guess), I was just wondering if I would be wasting my time.

I enjoy some of the aquatic scents. My wife HATES Davidoff Cool Water (bad memories) but I like Aqua Di Gio myself I find it has a clean refreshing scent and wears nicely when the weather is warmer. I also like Polo Blue (along with the other Polo scents).

oh ok, seems like there are very little posts into younger scents like that one, it seems like most people are not into them here, I guess there are some though. I guess the tastes vary quite widely.

I own three Aquatics; Blue Seduction, Man Eau Fraiche and Cool Water

I like Antonio Banderas Blue Seduction, very aquatic. It does not evolve well on my skin, but if I spray it on my clothes I visualize a trip to sea world or a large aquarium and the scent remains in clothes for a couple days.

Versace Man Eau Fraiche is listed as an aquatic, but I don't get it. All I get is citrus and woods and they are very synthetic.

Davidoff Cool Water is another frag which is listed as an auquatic and which I don't get any aquatic note. Cool Water smells like Creed GIT and that's not listed as an aquatic so go figure.

Both me and, more importantly, the bride love the aquatic scents. They seem to be the only ones that match my body chemistry. Don't be afraid to unload any you don't want. There will be buyers...probably me!!

I don't think Cool Water is an aquatic despite its name. I do not personally like aquatics...I just think that there are so many better options out there. Obviously though, I have not smelled every aquatic ever made, I just gave up on them because I never found one I really liked. As for "older" and "muskier" colognes.....well......not all classic scents are musky. There seem to be plenty of very old, classic colognes with no musk notes.

I guess I just used aquatics, I'm not even sure what my taste is, I guess it's just more on the sweet side than most of the muskier scents like say original Polo.

I think a lot of wetshavers are interested in more traditional scents. I know my taste is for older, more traditional scents.

I'm old and musty and like old and musty. Well really I like colognes, AS/ASB that are deep and somewhat "older" scents like the leathers and other richer scents such as T&H, TOBS and GFT.

I wouldnt consider myself young( but not exactly old...age 29) and I like alot of the lighter/ acquatic scents. Especially this time of year.
Aquatics I own. Issey, AD Gio, Azzaro Chrome, Coolwater, Lighter scents I own: Mugler, Gucci PH 2, Guerlain Vetiver, CK Summer, YSL Live Jazz.

Part of the issue is the popularity and not wanting to smell like everyone else, and to me the majority of them just smell the same. Why would I want to wear the world's number one selling men's scent over the past decade, or something very close to it? Most of the aquatics to me are just bland and don't seem to have the same complexity or natural flavor that I prefer.

We are not into mass-market mainstream fragrances here, there's no point in smelling like every other guy around you, right?
AdG and Cool Water are nice scents, but are way too common and overdone these days.

With a little research and some experimentation you can find a unique scent that no-one you know will have ever smelled before, and you can make that your signature.

I think to an extent the "aquatic" scents are getting a little dated now -very 1980s and 1990s. Everyone was wearing them then, a bit like Brut in the 70s. Also they are very close to drugstore scents despite the price. Drugstore scents popular with teenagers still probably more to do with the price and advertising than anything else.

The only aquatics I liked were Aqua by Nautilus and Latitude Longitude. both now discontinued.

What I use on a particular day depends on how I feel. I don't worry much about older vs. younger scents. Aquatic scents usually feel better for me during the summertime.

Acqua Di Gio is a younger scent? I remember the cloud of it when I was working security in clubs in the 90's.

FWIW, I was probably guilty of wearing it back then too. Now, it's funny. I seem to have gravitated to the types of frags that my father and grandfather wore.

I now tend to be "retro". But a lot more retro than the bloody 90's. :tongue_sm

For the record, Cool Water (despite the name) is defined as a
fresh fougere, not an aquatic. I believe Aspen, and Green Irish Tweed are defined the same way. It's often said, that Cool Water and Aspen are an attempt at cloning Green Irish Tweed.

I used to wear AD Gio and Issey Miyake back in the day (90's). I don't have bad memories of them at all, in fact I enjoyed the scents as did SWMBO. My particular penchant right now, is to match my frags with my shaving products. I'm currently rotating Trumpers Limes and Eucris, Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet, AdP, and Santa Maria Novella. I have a "flight" of DR Harris Arlington on order. These may be considered "older" or more classic scents, but I don't think they would qualify as musky.
