April 2023 Gentlemanly Restraint Until Month End (GRUME)

Day 1, 3.3% complete.

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Saponificio Varesino Opuntia
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.84 SB, Al Handle, Astra SP #2
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea 2-in-1 Aftershave.

For the first week of April, I'm using Opuntia. Opened a new bottle of 2-in-1.

Some days, everything aligns for an easy win, and this was one of them. A perfect SV bowl-lather, and a textbook near-BBS.

Still in. 1st shave of the month

Pre-Shave: Warm face wash & T&H pre-shave oil
Razor: Gillette Slim (7)
Blade: KCG (4)
Brush: Boti Captain SHD Silvertip Badger
Cream: Trumper Spanish Leather

Post-Shave: Alum Block
Proraso Red AS Splash
Trumper Spanish Leather Skin Food

Fancied using a cream today and Spanish Leather was that choice. Dig out my 65 Slim for an outing with the KCG blade. Surprisingly smooth BBS shave with the KCG on 4th use. Took my time to enjoy this shave tonight. Well happy. Now onto the next shave fellas 😎😎😎😎

1st day still in, no shave.

Long day of dad duty as the wife was helping a friend of hers whose husband just passed away,

Drive all over the place to get every one to their activity and on time, managed a few thrift shop as I was waiting for them to be done.

After a well deserved shower in the late afternoon I did took the opportunity to get some Osage rub on to make sure I keep going and then took the son to :

In case you wonder this is the final score and the locals won.

Looks like that one won too

Now if only I could hit the jackpot at the powerball tonight too

Notes to today’s shave:

Still in. The universe decided to test me again on my Karve Kravings. Fits the bill perfectly. I have been able to restrain myself for now. And I hope it sells pretty soon!

The star of today’s shave was the Zenith by @flask28! Wow! Based on this one performance I might even develop a liking to boars! Excellent lather thick and slick. Worked very well.

An excellent start of this Sunday I would say. Did errands yesterday so today is more about tidying up and relaxing before another week of work starts.

Full shave notes and more can be found in my journal here.

Enjoy your shave!

Another super solid shave with the Pearl Flexi. Setting 2 wtg. Setting 4 in the atg pass. A bit of buffing on the jaw line and on my troublespots on the neck - and I was ready for a sunny Sunday! 😎👍

Enjoy your Sunday, Comrades!
Cheers!:
Guido

Relaxed yet quick and effective shave this morning. Off to enjoy some beautiful weather and take the girls shopping - wish me luck 🍀

Razor combo was as expected, great result on auto-pilot.

First shave of the month, 3 days of growth

April GRUME : 1
2023 GRUYERE : 52

Razor : Gillette TravelTech head (S date code) and Dollar Store handle
Blade : Astra Green (0)
Pre Shave : none
Soap (SOTM) : LaToja Stick
Brush : Simpsons Trafalgar T2 Synthetic
Aftershave: OSMA Alum Block, Aqua Velva Blue

Well I am back in testing combo, this month the TravelTech head will see some action, bought many moons ago and just put a few shave on it, that tiny handle was just not comfortable to use. Got a $1.25 new razor and used the handle on it.

I gotta say while the razor did well, this is not the must efficient I have seen, a sharper blade would probably do marvelous, in this situation with 3 days of growth. I will put it through a week of shaving as I have done for the rest.

As for the shaving, no cut or nick, barely any feedback with the alum block, could have used the witch hazel but wanted to see what type of feedback I had. A bit of irritation on the jaw line and right side corner of the month as the razor/blade combo was struggling in that spot to deliver.

You all have a great day

Still in and back home! I play in a community concert band, Thursday night rehearsal, Saturday night concert. The three hour drive and overnight stay made two round trips infeasible. I managed not to touch the Trac II or the electric shaver the whole time. Got a DFS with my Tech at home with my usual gear.
