Approximate Age of this Razor?

I know it's quite old but I was wondering if anyone can help narrow down the age. I think the scales are brass. Cheers :thumbup1:

I can't read the tang but:

ERN
C. Friedr.ERN
Wald & Solingen1873
Knives, Pocket knives & Razors
Crown & Sword. ERN. Snake & Eagle. Primus.
Liliput. Tur-Ban Gong Razor, ATOR, NOHON.

Really hard to see, but the tang stamping looks like what I have seen on ERN razors from 1920's-30's. Those aren't the original scales though. Crown & Swords had plastic scales with a raised crown and sword embossed on it.

I have had an ern or 2 with the crown on the scales, though i have never had any idea how you actually date a straight!

i found this site once (and had lots of trouble trying to relocate it when i was actually looking for it)
http://www.uniclectica.com/misc/manuf.html

i found it trying to date a Joseph Elliot Rattler that i just got off the bay

ELLIOT, JOSEPH
Sheffield
Trademark: C reversed and C, with cross between
1821-1854 ("More Old Razors" by Lummus. Antiques, May 1927 p.372-374)

i found it on the internet, so it must be true. :tongue_sm

Thats cool, we should start a section on this, when you get a razor post it in (if its not already there), if you have info on dates etc, cool, if not at least we can start to see how many manufacturers were about, and you could even give your comments on how the shave/honing was etc, or is there already one about/to much bother to keep updating?
