Apothecary Mugs

Anybody have any suggestions on where I might find a decently priced apothecary mug. I would really love to buy one as I like the handle style and the curved sides. I've searched the Nets for quite a while, and have yet to find these mugs for a good price. For that matter I have a hard time finding any decent looking mugs for cheap, which I don't understand. I mean 15-30USD seems steep for an oversized coffee mug if you ask me. Enlighten me, please.
In case you don't know what I'm talking about:

$42.50 direct from the Muhle Shop. Geez $30 is 33% off... bargain :001_tongu

The Col Conk one is cheaper @ $17.50 ......but only comes in white.

I'd be looking for an alternative at a second hand shop or something , you can get a brand new full blown scuttle for that type of price. All depends on exactly what you're after and how much you want to spend :001_smile

Or easier still, just face lather :001_tongu

They have one you post and many others... Hope you enjoy :wink2:.

That site sells them for even more then others.. I have not seen a reasonable price mug on any site I have visited. I have also checked out local antique stores and haven't had any luck finding one yet. I did purchase a latte mug from my local dollar store and it was ok. But not really wide enough and to deep for bowl lathering. I now use a shallow bowl that I found at a local super store and it is working nicely. It tapers on the side and is the right depth for me. It does not have a handle and it has some kids cartoon graphic on it, but for $3 it is keeping me happy until I either find the perfect mug/bowl or get a scuttle :)

I have seen another post suggest a rice bowl, thy look to be decent as well, keep a eye out for them

It can be done even for such tight price...I had the same issue some time ago and found one here (as pic about € 20,75) at a local store (i don't know about today exchange rates EUR-USD but i think it will be under your USD 30 range...)

They were wonderful performers, heavy and functional. The big issue here is the costs freights from Europe...maybe 2nd hand somewhere.

If u have a china town near by check it out. I find a lot of stone and ceramic bowls for dirt cheap, 2 dollars cdn

Btw those buddha bowls are sick!!!!

looks like a standard issue onion soup bowl would work just fine any kitchen store should have them as well as k-mart or wally world etc.

There is a burt's bees one available for cheap. I picked one up with aftershave for my brother a few months ago, not sure from where though. :blushing:

I have the Burt's Bees mug. I consider it too large for practical use, but it is nice for hanging some razors in for display.
