AOS Unscented Slickness.

Afternoon Gents,

I've been working on my lathering technique and have finally got my AOS to lather really well, gobs of thick lather.

But it isn't slick, it feels pretty much like a cream lather. Is this something to do with the soap, or something to do with my technique?

All the best,

I've found the same with all AOS soaps.

It's a softer puck to start off with and I put a few drops of water to soften the top of the soap a few minutes before I shave, pick up some soap with a well shaken brush.

It's a very protecting soap that doesn't lend itself to extra close cutting, and I have found trying to add extra water to the mix doesn't make it any slicker and make it burst out in volume. I think by design its a denser soap on the face with a thin appearance but very thick and protective feel.

I get excellent results with AoS unscented soap. They do make a pre-shave oil, which will give you some extra slickness, but that has not been an issue for me. In fact, I get some of my best shaves with the AoS.

AoS is one of my favorite tallowbased soap. You might want to also try Mitchell's wool Fat I think the lanolin makes it slick.
