Anything as a "dud" blade ?

Hi guys...

Been using my Parker SR1...with the Shark Saloon blades that came with it .

Today...did the usual prep, but when I started to shave, it felt like a plastic toy...as I had to pass 4-5 times at the same place to shave somewhat ok !!!

Is there anything as a "dud" blade ?? ( Not sharp enough..etc )

Usually i handle this shavette like a scalpel because of the way it cuts !...but today, it was like a butter knife !

Any idea ?
:confused1

Many thanks in advance !!

Yes, it does happen, but not too often. Usually with the price of blades its best to just can the dud and put a new one in. In the time that I've been wet shaving I've only had it happen a couple of times, but I've heard stories of a whole pack being bad.

You are right...I will change that blade tomorrow.

I know they are good..As I slit the side of my face the first time ! LOL ( As a newbie...i didn't know the length of that shavette ! )...What an introduction !!!

I also bought 120 of those blades...based on the first impression .

It happens. Alan does wonderful blind tests with blades and this week he had a blade with a bad side. It doesn't mean any of the other blades will be bad.

Yes. In fact, I think the only difference in performance between expensive and inexpensive blades is the probability of duds. Don't know that for a fact, but that's my perception based on personal experience and what I have read from the experience of others.

The Shark blades that came with my SR1 all felt like duds and ripped up my face. I was disappointed that I had purchased the box of 120, until I actually tried one from the box. The ones from the box of 120 were much better. You might try using one of those and tossing the ones that came with your SR1. I used all five of them and each one ripped my face a new one.

It happens. But it didn't occur to you to change the blade?
Because then you would have your answer right away (not as critique, but that was the first thing I did).

It can happen, but I think we're too quick to blame a dud blade when it's much likelier that you just had a bad day shaving.
Maybe minerals in your water supply messed up the lather, maybe a bit of lazy technique, drier than normal air, all sorts of things can mess with your shave.

Change my blade this morning...Nick my chin..everything is back to normal !!! LOL

That new blade sliced nicely !! Only 1 pass...

So probably a "dud"....

Have a nice shave day !!!! :001_smile
