I'm about to explode... I need to discuss this with someone...
I'm still in shock -- at first I wasn't 100% sure Trinity was Rita's killer, but apparently one of the producers confirmed it to Entertainment Weekly. What a gut-punch of an ending. Just when you think everything is wrapped up neatly... uuugh.
I'm sad that we lost a "good" character, but it gets Dexter out of the corner they kinda painted him into. But he's a single dad now -- what's going to happen to Rita's kids (will Dexter keep them or will they go live with their grandparents?), and how will he do what he does while being a primary caregiver to 1 or 3 kids? Will we jump forward in time and will he need to raise Harrison like Harry raised him?
Superb acting this season. Deborah had episode after episode of intensely emotional scenes and she nailed it start to finish. Dexter's character did a great job of showing his vulnerability and insecurity while keeping his edge. And Lithgow... woo boy. Never thought I'd see him doing a character like that, but he owned the role. I wondered about the casting when they introduced him, but once they built his story up a little more, it fit like a glove.
