What's new

Anyone use shave sticks exclusively?

I made my first shave stick a month ago out of a puck of VDH. I liked it so much I shaved half my Tabac puck down and made another. Then an Arko stick came in the mail, soon to follow was my self-fashioned Cade shave stick. Long story short, I haven't used anything BUT shave sticks and face lathering since. Admittedly the addition of a Rooney 2/1 Super last week didn't help.

I'm loving the whole process, the scrubbiness on the face, no cleanup afterword, and it just makes me feel down right cool :001_cool:. I should also note that face lathering/ shave stick process has done wonders for my complexion.

Any products a new found shave stickanatic shouldn't be without in your opinions?

Most of the wetshavers in Germany are using the Palmostick. Many since decades. Because he´s dirt cheap, highly effective and available in every drugstore.

I don't use sticks exclusively, but they do get a lot of play - I have a QED, Tabac, Irish Moos, Palmolive, Speick, Erasmic, and Arko sticks. I also melted down a TGQ puck into a stick and that works great as well.

I like the sticks because they're quick and, I think for a lot of newer shavers, because you rub the stick all over your mug, it helps make sure they use enough soap (one of the common issues that new soap users have is that they don't load enough soap onto the brush when lathering off of a puck).

I really don't get the whole stick thing. I find them awkward to use for some reason. I love my Speick and Valobra sticks, but I've grated them down into wooden bowls and use them as normal pucks.

Mostly sticks, Palmolive and La Toja.

A few days ago I got a lot of vintage (unused) shave sticks of wich a few I am gonna try soon, refills from Tabac (100gr) and Yardley (40gr).

After reading your post I'm thinking about making a VDH stick.

Seems more enjoyable and convenient than soap in a bowl.

I don't have any problem getting a good lather shave sticking, but...

I prefer a puck loading a brush.

I will prob never shave stick again.

You NEED Valobra and I highly recommend DR Harris sticks for tallowy goodness. Our resident soapers, like the Sues, also have great glycerin or Shea butter based sticks.

+1 on the DR Harris. I spend a lot of time travelling, and use the Arlington and Lavender sticks almost exclusively. I take a Valobra stick with me just to change it up a bit. Awesome soaps, all of them.

Ok so:

• La Toja
• Palmolive
• Valabra
• Speick
• DR Harris

That's a lot of sticks!

Not exclusive, I use shaving sticks when I travel. Several Mama bears and a Palmolive, I'll be ordering a tabac next.

Sorry to say, I PIF'd my Speick, it seems to give me irritation for some reason.
