Anyone know what kind of metal is used in a Muehle R41 (2013)

Hi there everyone! I am a clumsy shower shaver who had ruined two good razors due to drops in the shower. Most recently my EJ89 experienced a thread strip out after a drop to the shower door. I believe these are made out of Zamak so that is expected.

Anyone know if the R41 is Zamak as well? I'm definitely going to be more careful but I'd like to know.

Pretty sure it's Zamak. The R41 is a great razor but for the money and from a durability perspective, it's hard to beat a Rockwell 6S.

Yes, the R41 is Zamak. That's why I own four of them, two of the 2011 variety and two of the 2013 variety. I'm afraid I'll drop them, and want backups.

I would recommend something made out of brass or aluminum, perhaps a FaTip, if you're looking for something relatively inexpensive that shaves kind of like an R41.

Try a Fatip razor. They are made from brass then plated.

+1 for Fatip if you want a modern brass razor.
Otherwise, it's modern stainless steel, Zamak, or go for vintage aluminium or brass. Or bakelite, but then you're back to the dropping/cracking issue.
