it looks like a scuttle without the lower water basin.
and for $25, why not just get a robert becker scuttle?

Meh, just get a Dirty Bird scuttle with web ridges - same design, and it'll give you warm lather for decades.

as far as bowls go, this should give you good lather, but it'll still be so, so cold.

I use a cereal bowl that cost $1. Twenty five bucks seems like a lot for a bowl with a handle.

It looks nice, but seems to me a bit more shaving mug sized...I use a job lots $1 special, that just happens to be an ice cream bowl. It works great for me, and if it slips off the counter and shatters, its a cheap replace. YMMV, of course!

I purchased this soup bowl at the local Salvation Army Store. It cost me $2. I know, I know, I overpaid! It has a satin glaze and swirls in the bottom. Whips up lather like nobody's business. I glued a piece of rubber from an old bicycle tube on the bottom to keep it from sliding around. YMMV.
