What's new

Anyone else hate buying clothes online?

i cant pass up some of the deals, just got some henleys from Kohls for $5.20 after all the discounts, then i got some thermal casual shirts from Dickies for 6 dollars after discounts.

The problem arises after i get the shirts in the mail, i then find out if the sizing chart is set for tight fitting for loose fitting, which it does not mention on the website. Then after i have to wash it, how much will it shrink in the drying machine

I've gotten into the habit of buying 2 of each shirt i order, Large and Extra Large, just in case they shrink a full size while being dried, which i have given many shirts to Clothe My People because of that happening.

The thermals wont be much of a problem thank god, because if they do shrink to "form fitting" shirts i can just wear them as an under layer.

*Doesn't like form fitting clothes*

Actually, I rather enjoy buying clothes online.

My favorites are The Territory Ahead and L.L. Bean. Yeah, I'll also buy J.Crew's t-shirts in the summertime because the weave is so fine and breathable that it feels that I have nothing on at all. Be advised that with J. Crew t-shirts you should order the next size up.

My absolute favorite is The Territory Ahead. Their garments are sized generously and they have a great exchange policy. On the rare occasion that I do find a sizing problem The Territory Ahead will go ahead and send a replacement garment without even waiting for the original order to arrive back at their place of businessl

That is great customer service! I suppose it is a matter of trial and error, but once I have come to know my preferred vendors and how their sizes run, I have not had a problem.

Happy Shopping!

I stopped buying online. Clothes are so poorly made today, so there is no consistency in size, no matter how much you spend. I am 58, but don't weigh much more than I did when I was 35, but pants don't fit me the same way. I need to experiment when trying on pants, to get a comfortable feel. Many times I find the seat to be to short, and leaves little room in the crotch.

The only clothes I buy online are t-shirts, everything else i have to try on first to make sure it fits me correctly and looks good.

Buying online is no different than buying in person. If you go into typical shops it's all made off shore and cheaply made. On line is no different. However on line there are stores you can buy from who sell much better quality mdse that is better made and more consistent. I buy everything on line and never have problems or at least so rarely it's a blue moon when I have to send something back.

Last thing I bought online was about 3 months ago, a t-shirt and it arrived way too big.

Ever since then I have abandoned the cheap deals online and left it to buying in the store where I can try it on. In a way because I shop way less than being online, I should infact be saving money. Getting 5 cheap deals probably doesnt end up being so cheap when added together.

Bought one of their shirts in TK Maxx for £15. Looking forward their website going live http://www.onfire.co.uk/

Gah this thread got me looking over a couple of websites & I found something that I have been looking for, for a good while a Hoody with zip pockets. It was reduced from £35 to £20, came to £24 including delivery. Checked the size chart and ordered the size it SAYS I need. Will be disappointed if it doesnt fit.

I'm a touchy-feely, very picky guy when it comes to buying clothes. I think the only company i've bought such from on-line is Lands End and I've had pretty good luck with them

I just purchased a Lands End Down Vest for 15 dollars + Free Shipping, i hope it fits, the chest measurements sizing chart is what i followed, my chest measurement is 42 when i pull the clothing measuring tape TIGHT, slightly loose its 44-45 so i ordered a large.

If wearing a UnderArmour body suit was socially acceptable and came in a variety of styles and colours (TRON theme perchance?) I'd wear it all the time. lol, can't stand loose fitting clothes! EEK!!

The only time i wear form fitting clothing is when i wear thermal underwear or a tight fitting jacket/vest. I dont know what it is, I guess you are just more comfortable with your body than i am. I used to weigh a lot more when i was younger so i guess i'm kind of self-conscious.

I'm a try it on guy, too. Thrift store for me. :thumbup1:

I will buy some brands of shoes online. If I've tried them on in store for size, I'll shop the size I need in the brand I want on the interweb.

I am a large fellow (6'5") so I have issues with a number of retailers and their skewed definitions of sizes (Gap/BR/ON are the worst). I usually have to order online because most retail outlets don't carry many/if any styles in my size. Because everyone has such a funny view of size (48" chest is only a 48" chest, not 46 and not 50) I tend to stick with retailers I've bought from for a long time. Dress clothes all come from Jos A Banks and casual clothes tend to all come from Lands End or LL Bean.

The "sizing charts" most places have on their sites are a freakin' joke.

Hoodie came today and happily it does fit. Not quite as big as I would have wanted, as I prefer them baggier, but its fine. Glad I dont have to send it back for another size.

I hate buying clothes period, now shoes thats a different story! My last two pair were bought from onlineshoes.com and so far I haven't had a problem.

I've been buying exclusively online since I know the brand and size I want, and the prices are much lower.

When i buy shoes i need to buy 2 different sized shoes, one size 9 and one size 10

I hate it when i buy shoes at a department store and the cashier actually checks the shoes for sizes, then i have to feign an "oops" and go replace one of the shoes.

I occasionally buy online from sites such as Sierra Trading Post. I also will buy dress shirts off of ebay. Other than that, I do the brick and mortar thing.

Bought a very nice looking shawl collared cardigan from Old Navy online. I had to return it as it was too long. I was very disappointed, as they didn't have any other sizes except XL and XXL.
