What's new

anybody tried "glenbretton rare"?

today i was in the liquor store browsing around looking at whisky's and i came across this.

proxy.php

which hails as "Canada's only single malt whisky" and sells for close to 90cad

i looked them up and this is how they discribe it :

Colour: Golden Amber

Nose: Butterscotch, heather, honey and ground ginger

Taste: Creamy with a good
flow of toasty wood, almond
and caramel

Finish: Rounded, lingering, faintly sweet, merest whisper
of peat

im not much of a drinker but i really enjoy whisky particularly single malts. so has anyone had any experience with this one?

Yes, I've tried it and it's a good malt. However, I find it a little on the pricier side for what you get. It goes for $90 CDN here in Ontario, while other comparable scotch malts in the 10 to 12 year rare are less expensive. I certainly wouldn't pick it over a Glendronich 12 year or Highland Park 12 year.

Single malt........ Is it barley or rye (I've seen some called single malt rye whisky)

Edit......... It's from barley.

I agree. I think it should be in the 60-70 range. It is a nice whisky, but over priced.
