Anybody heard of "The Refinery"

Not the Gentlemens Refinery. It's a different company based in the UK. I was given a bottle of their asb and never heard of it. So when I got home, I googled the stuff and it turns out this is some high end product. To the tune of $53 for a 100 ml bottle. They sell it on the Barneys website. I just wanted to find out if it's overpriced garbage before I open the box.

I believe that a couple of years ago they won a category in Esquire's grooming awards. I think it was the pre-shave oil. For the most part, that's all I've heard of/about them.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe I read a review of some of their products at Mens Essentials (.com). From what I seem to remember it was considered average but significantly overpriced.

I know the refinery..it is a high end men's grooming band from the UK...it probably equates to Nickel..Lab Series...maybe slightly more expensive..

I have a refinery salon around the corner which sells all their stuff. Unfortunately, I have yet to try their ASB! Their pre-shave oil is pretty decent and their shaving foam..(not the gel..) is very very good. Unfortunately, it cant be used with a brush but lathers very well and smells divine...it makes a great early morning alternative!

Please let me know how the ASB is!

After using this post shave balm (ASB) for a week or so, I can honestly say I enjoy it and it agrees with my skin. The scent is very unique / masculine, but subtle, and the ingredient list is impressive. It doesn't feel greasy at all (which is why I usually don't like balms) and it absorbs into the skin really well, leaving no residue. It is perfect for summer as there's a refreshing menthol cooling effect that lasts. The good news is that a little goes a long way and it should last for a couple months of regular use, but I can't see dropping ~$50 on another bottle.
